Battle magic is actually one of the less worthwhile uses of magic as a whole; how often have you, in your daily life, actually needed to murder a dude at any distance?

Is it actually a good use of my time to make things vanish without a trace so I don't have to bother with the outhouse, or is that just a hack writer who doesn't know what whimsical is? (Also that stuff doesn't just go nowhere; how do I know no one's looking for the guy shitting in his living room?)

There are lots of practical everyday uses for magic! Crystal balls (made of glass) have taken on a role sort of like telephones. Some people think magic could have an even bigger part of everyday life but then the question becomes: is doing this by magic actually better than doing it normalwise?

"Double, double, toil and trouble" COULD be an integral part of the spell. Or, then again, it could just be that you're storing up heat to juice your spell and then it's gazpacho for lunch afterward.

The main constant is everything takes energy, but the universe isn't necessarily choosy about where it gets it. A chilly environment feels kind of eldritch because just as often as not magic is using ambient heat as a power source. This can be exploited.

So for example, a DnD style healing spell is "asking" the universe to cure a person's wounds. Depending on availability of ingredients and personal style, this could work a lot of ways. Some spells reset the body to a pre-injured state, others speed normal healing, others do it a third way.

(If you are a wizard with a high-level university degree specifically studying the way the casting of magic works you can explain the actual, less-flawed facts, but they won't make sense or be useful to anyone else)

Pretty much the entire American electorate needs to be executed. I say this as a guy who is by and large against the death penalty.

I mean the boomers were just like "Yeah lets go into debt for the rest of our lives" about everything so why shouldn't their grandkids
