If an agent is stupid enough to not understand the time value of money + the fact that deferred contracts are interest free loans TO owners, then the easier thing would be to ban the agent for incompetence.
Baseball teams loading up deferred money for players in an uncapped sport feels like cheating the system and there probably should be rules against it.
