Shape seems irrelevant. More important that it be ornamental, especially if shiny, but patterns are ok, too. It was more common in describing shiny additions to clothing before we started producing modern sequins. If it’s bedazzled, it’s spangled, but it can be spangled without being bedazzled.

Not a concept I’d expect to work either. In fairness, though, they managed to succeed in the far less touristy realm of Albuquerque first. I think most people are bringing their kids there though.
