ive read both the satanic verses and midnight children but 42 pages into quichotte and i think this is easily the best of his work so far omg the entire premise is so compelling and his writing is at peak form here
Reading a Salman Rushdie work really reminds me why he was such a huge inspiration to mt writing in general Quichotte is SO GOOD

Graceling and this both had a super long stretch of the book where the protagonist and a companion were isolated from the government due to political problems and had to traverse an icy hellish wasteland and survive but this book actually felt like that had weight and wasnt a complete waste of time

its funny that both the left hand of darkness and graceling had a plot point about avoiding the monarchy/government through traversing an inhospitably cold punishing environment in the middle of winter
