Good for you! I’m rarely on here and have been pickier about who I follow so I think that’s been helpful!

So unless you are part of the process, we cannot and should not assume. Jealousy is a valid feeling. But it’s a feeling that should motivate you!

But unless we’re looking at long time established industry vets (as an ex: Grey DeLisle or Frank Welker) in indie projects (which I personally am not in favor of because it takes away opportunity from people who need it more).Then it’s likely the project is ultimately looking for the best fit.

I also understand from an outside perspective when we look at a professional world of stunt casting in animated films and nepotism hires- why it seems like indie projects may clout chase. And I won’t lie- it’s likely that the occasional ones do!

And just because you know a person’s work- the project or casting director may or may not know that voice actor’s work as well. Now if they do- yes it can absolutely have a process in the decision making! In the same way a job interview can. More relevant experience on the resume just looks better.
