And until like 2-3 years ago she never made a full pop punk record. They made her do all kinds of crossover pop songs and ballads and whatever. And she was still cranking out monster hits across several years in a genre they won’t even let her fully embrace.

Here’s what I respect about Avril. Regardless of how you feel about the genre, or her authenticity, she belongs on the TRL / mall pop punk Mount Rushmore. It’s like her, blink, and we can argue but she’s up there. She’s formative to this specific subgenre of pop music.

Sometimes if it’s an especially troll-y or obnoxious opinion I’ll let it hang if I think it’ll be funny but there’s nothing funny about food arguments. On the other hand, every time I repost the “is Avril Lavigne classic rock?” skeet I’m grinning like the goddamn grink.
