1) this piece rocks
2) the quip about the Blue Jays made me look at how much he had to trade contact quality for more quantity, and it turns out that last year was his best-every year in terms of hard hit batted balls as a portion of total PAs, and by a lot. he definitely didn't just sell out!

I love how broken/cheap WR progression is (even with XP sliders almost all the way down) because everyone deserves a chance to run mesh with some zippy little guys

I should rephrase — I am interested in how that affected counting stats (and by extension, how players were seen at the time)

A take I’ve been sitting on: using the average member of the hall of fame as the yardstick for admission is doing real damage to how we talk about this stuff. It’s bizarre to me that lots of folks who are usually smart with stats don’t see that they’re setting the criteria, not measuring it

Met a guy at a Halloween party recently who claimed to have been to Kiffin’s apartment because a friend of his was dating Kiffin at the time (FAU era?) — said he had zero social skills and was just the weirdest hang

I guess my question is whether the clubs who don’t get a year one invite are going to a) fight it tooth and nail or b) try to get in on the deal in the form of an immediate buyout and guaranteed long term trickle-down funding

I’m really curious about whether this sort of structure tanks the future of a club like Charleroi because they’re no longer in the top league or gives them firmer footing because there’s a bigger pile of money to aim for and (one can hope) some of that North Sea Super League revenue flows down

How long until we have someone trying to fund a Northern European super league that tries to consolidate the top clubs from the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden etc into one league with pro-rel back to their respective domestic leagues
