I agree with you. Every liberal democracy faces this threat right now. This is a defensive moment, which is why it’s so hard to articulate a way forward. But I still think that in such a context, the best bet for holding back the tide is an inclusive, big tent strategy. This at least buys some time.

A better way to make my point is that in an era when RW populism is rising everywhere, the liberal-left stands a chance when they build broad coalitions that speak to people’s underlying concerns (eg immigration & inequality). CAN + AUS recent elections provide other examples of this strategy.
