Ignore him! Pay attention to the fact that lots of people are there! It's a cult, and they will vote for him no matter what, even if things get worse them. I'll feel better when no one shows up for his rallies.

Notice: the crowd loves the racism. They love Lindell for governor. These people worry me. It's a cult and they will vote for him and his looney friends, no matter what.

Note the tepid response to his suggestion he'll lower insurance costs. They don't care about this! Think about that. They will vote for him even if things get worse for them. Chilling.

Ignore his idiocy. Pay attention to the fact that hundreds/thousands of his followers are still there. They don't care (or don't know) about his crimes, his idiocy. The worship him and vote for him.

Be concerned about that. Until I see poll numbers drop to below 20% support, I will be concerned.

🤣 I cracked up trying to imagine this.

Trump. PowerPoint.

Hmm.
December 19, 2025 at 3:59 AM
I hate to say this but the thought crossed my mind that perhaps they're doing some polling to see if a war with Venezuela now would be supported by MAGA folk.

Viruses don't exist?

I realize he's a psychiatrist, but how the hell did he get a medical degree?!?!

Has he ever looked though a microscope? He writes about colds and flu as if all you have to do is eat well. And he has 30,000 followers on X. Arrgghh!

The idiocy. The idiocy.

Gosh, Trump has documentation?

Wonder why they aren't showing it. I can't imagine why ....

Here's a reply of his to a comment:

"... it’s perverse to ignore the benefits. We had a low temperature of 18 degrees in Washington, D.C., where I live, earlier this week. Thanks to burning fossil fuels, my family was warm and comfortable rather than freezing to death."

Pathetic. 2/2

Good point, Michael!

I was really surprised how badly argued Matt's essay is. Full of logical fallacies, lack of support for claims. Next semester, I will allow students to have a crack at the essay. I don't think they will be impressed; they will definitely NOT be amused. 1/2

Here is one of his responses to comments.:

"At the same time, it’s perverse to ignore the benefits. We had a low temperature of 18 degrees in Washington, D.C., where I live .... Thanks to burning fossil fuels, my family was warm and comfortable rather than freezing to death."

Pathetic.

I so agree. As a professor who teaches courses on ethics, I am stunned. Profiles in cowardice. Profiles in amorality. Profiles in lawlessness.

But--sigh!--I am not surprised. This entire administration and everyone connected to it represent moral cowardice and varying degrees of lawlessness.

Goodness, this is not a well-argued essay. A number of problems. I look forward to sharing this essay with education students next semester to see how they might respond to it. I don't think they're going to find his a compelling argument. They will definitely not be amused.

Thank you, Anne! The passage you highlighted is utterly chilling:

"... the authors do focus on one enemy ideology. It is ... European liberal democracy. This is what this radical faction really fears: people who talk about transparency, accountability, civil rights, and the rule of law."
December 18, 2025 at 11:58 PM
Authority? Pffft. Who needs authority from Congress?

This administration is a law unto itself.

I listened to a conservative, pro-Trump commentator this morning. She is clearly intelligent and has a university degree.

She thought the speech was great. That Trump is definitely on the right track, that the future is rosy for all those neglected by the liberals.

Many still think like her.

I won't be at all surprised to see more institutions named after him. We may see his image increasingly displayed on buildings. At some point, there may be statues ....

Yes, but one hopes at least some MAGA folks can see this for what it was--a trainwreck.

I wish the networks would follow up with analyses that would offer some sane reaction, tearing his arguments and rants to shreds.
December 18, 2025 at 3:48 AM
$38 trillion in debt?! But, but, but Ron--the $18 trillion in tariffs revenues! Pretty soon the debt will be gone! There will be a 600% reduction in the debt!
December 18, 2025 at 3:45 AM
I agree! One of the tragedies this year has been the utter failure or the press/media (by and large) to hold him and the entire administration accountable and to ask the tough questions. Almost surreal to have witnessed this, day after day, week after week. Letting Trump & Co. get away with it all.
December 18, 2025 at 3:40 AM
All of it!
December 18, 2025 at 3:35 AM
In sum, he comes across as an increasingly fearful, paranoid leader who is desperately afraid folks are going to see behind the curtain and realize things are not so rosy.

He also increasingly comes across as a deranged, angry, xenophobic racist filled with hatred, envy, and malice.
