This idea of "owning the libs" has always made me very uneasy, smacking of privilege, prejudice, and imagined superiority based on what? Color? Religion?Nationality? Wealth? Sexuality? Gender? All of the above? It's unpleasant and inhuman. And NOT "Christian"!

Spot on! When one dies, even if by a violent attack, one's past actions and identity do not become magically vanished in the name of "respecting the dead". The entire MAGA right seems to utilize and depend on some collective amnesia or deluded denial of history, reality, and cold hard facts.

I agree. I think it's both. He wants to declare war, assume wartime powers & martial law, and suspend elections. Then no impeachment, he remains in office, & avoids jail. With the oil he gets to keep ( he says) being the cherry on top.
