Europe needs to recognise that the US is not an ally anymore and act accordingly:
Close European US bases, come up with a way to remove it's total reliance on US technology etc
I don't know where that leaves Ukraine but it's nowhere good.

A backbone that has enough willpower to go against Trump & money & military prowess to beat Ruzzia ... I very much fear not.
At most leaders might have enough self-respect to not cave into demands they relax sanctions.

But he will die at some point and when he does I hope America is ready to stop another soulless moron taking over.

Every time I think we as a species have reached the bottom of depravity something else comes along and proves I know nothing.

What's that saying about trust but verify?
We unfortunately live in a world where it is too easy to accidently write/copy false statements AND quite a lot of people do it for fun or maliciously.

I like your pic; "The fact machine" - is very needed

"...he was discussing his views that the US needs to establish a moon base in preparation for a future space war"
...
I mean,
A) I'm not sure calling people gullible is right as it's exactly the sort of crap that this gov would say
B) what he was actually talking about is almost as stupid

When smaller landlords were demonised and penalised financially it was obvious this sort of thing would happen.

The only losers are renters - smaller landlords (mostly) treat tenants much better than large for-profit corporate entities.

They live in a place with lots of guns and around people whose salaries they aren't paying ...
Ok, sure that sounds safe.

For some reason I thought of New Orleans when I saw this. Never been so not sure why.

It's a stunning building, most modern architecture is so dull compared to the past.

I work for a small org in England, only about 100 staff including 1 Ukrainian & 1 Russian. They don't mix much but do manage to be civil because it's not right to punish someone for the actions of a government they don't agree with.

However tightening visa rules in this case makes sense.

I don't know the exact terms but he only gets that amount IF Tesla meets certain metrics.
It's obscene, sure but it's up to people to make sure it never happens!

I totally agree with your point about rural America, that's also the case in rural areas in England (although everything is sooooo much closer here).
I guess I'm thinking of all the associated costs like insurance, repairs and parts and petrol/gas/electricity as making it unaffordable.

In Norway they produce something like 99% of their domestic electricity needs with hydropower. They then sell most of their oil and use those profits to not have debt.
Not great for climate change but super positive for them.
I guess Australia can do something similar.

That's what batteries are for, in the article it says "people could fill up a home battery during the day, and then use that electricity during peak hours when rates are higher."
Also says people without panels can do this (just need batteries to pull the free electricity into them & use later).

I can definitely see a future where for most people owning a car is unnecessary (this is already true in many European urban areas). However the sad truth is, it is far more likely that in the future car ownership just becomes too expensive for most people.

Trump is the new Alcibiades, except instead of leading Athens to a ruinous war he is dragging America off a cliff and taking the (Western) world with him.
Why Did Socrates Not Believe in Democracy? - GreekReporter.com
Why was ancient Greek philosopher Socrates against the idea of democracy? In fact, he was in favor of a Spartan-type monarchy.
