this is my balatro; more chaotic and absurdist (my highest scoring omelet had three live pufferfish on it) but still mechanically juicy in setting up your synergies and deckbuilding. funny without getting too twee or interrupting the flow. and all of the food art is really cute! 🍳

other recs: devilman, samumenco, rose of versailles if you read oscar as trans masc. my fave non-canon bl ship of all time is from s3 of yu-gi-oh! gx, it was my 'i should take t' moment 🃏

fantastic short film; having a vampire be seduced by a human film theorist by way of queer, feminist reading on horror movies and vampire mythology is just the right level of metatext to utterly charm me. cheat on misogynists! "ah yes, the toothed vagina. i know that story well."

rewatched in bits with a friend. it feels the most 50s science fiction of tomino's shows, and i love it to bits. love it more than a lot of the same 50s sf classics tbh. has some of the same warts (misogyny) but hits such higher highs; childhood's end doesn't have sheryl formosa

is it coherent? not especially. do the blue eyes look silly? yes. does it rule? absolutely! fantastic cast, wonderful music, the set/costume/production design's phenomenal; a great film that both demands you read dune to understand it and is testament to the power of creative liberties

came for the early 70s japanese prog, stayed for the fantastic pop song that was a little jarring but is an undeniable banger. my favorite track is probably the third act of black ship though, the guitar is just stellar. i should probs listen to more masayoshi takanaka

great horror novel, fantastic prose and excellent use of pacing to set up the nature of the ending - it's an ending many haunted house stories have, but the peeling of the layers of aggressions in the neighborhood builds to it naturally. ezri is such a dynamic narrator, poetic. fuck hoas

it's... okay! if the muppets had stayed on the air for decades, this feels like it could have just been this week's episode. but i suppose i've just outgrown this show; miss piggy is an icon and statler + waldorf are legends, but i'm window-in-window'ing for the music numbers
