Busy part of sky with two different galaxy groups: Deer Lick (upper-right) and Stephan’s Quintet (lower-left). Between 30-350 million miles away. 60 hours of data in 4-panel mosaic #Astrophotography #photography #Space

Over the last decade, I've tried to photograph M51-Whirlpool Galaxy. Using the same telescope (but with better camera, filters, mount, experience), Pleased with the latest result. #Astrophotography #photography

Astrophotos are full of stars, but they get in the way during image processing. To get the most out of StarNet in #PixInsight workflows, learn about how settings like Image Resolution impact the results. https://chaoticnebula.com/how-to-best-use-starnet-within-pixinsight/

👻 Meet SH2-116 - The Ghost Nebula, haunting the constellation Cepheus. Dusty tendrils snake through starlight, sculpted by newborn stars. 30+ hours under the stars with my telescope. #astrophotography #photography #astronomy
November 5, 2025 at 4:42 PM
Fun fact: This cosmic cradle in Cepheus is an emission nebula buzzing with star formation. Pillars of gas and dust give birth to future suns. 40 hours in a 2-panel mosaic through my telescope #photography #astrophotography

IC 342, the Hidden Galaxy, a grand spiral close to our Milky Way, but dust obscures its view. Despite the veil, its swirling arms and starry core shine through with 35 hours of data captured from my backyard #astrophotography #space #photography

Sh2-91: The other Veil Nebula in Cygnus. This supernova remnant is much dimmer than Veil, but still beautiful. I captured this 5-panel #astrophotography mosaic over 11 nights through HA and OIII filters totaling 30 hours of data. #Photography #Astronomy

IC 1396A, the Elephant Trunk Nebula, formed because gravitational pull is strong enough to collapse the gas and dust leading to the formation of new stars. 40 hours of narrowband data from my backyard telescope create this image #photography #astrophotography #astronomy

Reprocess of 40 hrs of NGC 7129 data (R, B, G, HA). Might be one of my favorite objects as it is so unique. 3,300 light years away. Stars less than 1 million years old (infants). Captured with my telescope #Astrophotography #Photography

The Cocoon Nebula in Cygnus is a hotbed of star formation, where hundreds of stars were recently born. The young stars and dust create a lot of color. 46 hours of data from my backyard telescope #Astrophotography #photography

Fun Fact: Unlike most other galaxies with multiple arms, the galaxy NGC 4725 is a one-armed wonder. Its lone arm winds around and around. 30 hours of RGB data
through my telescope #astronomy #Photography #Astrophotography

Galaxy M95 has high metallicity (higher proportion of elements heavier than hydrogen and helium than the sun). Often means gone through many generations of star formation. 10 hours of RGB data through my telescope #astrophotography #photography
October 3, 2025 at 3:42 PM
Fun Fact: The galaxy M96 exhibits an unusual amount of "kinematic twisting". Outer parts rotate in different direction than central. Hey, we learned a new astro term!

It took 30 hrs of data through a 12" SCT to bring out the structure of the M90 galaxy in Virgo. It is considered elliptical and spiral (characteristics of both). Fun fact: the spectrum is blue-shifted (it is coming towards us) #Astrophotography #photography #Astronomy

Most of the time, #PixInsight Image Solver script only requires basic information to solve an image. But sometimes, it fails. Troubleshooting guide to fix issues related to coordinates, reference catalogs, and star detection https://chaoticnebula.com/pixinsight-image-solver/ #Astrophotography

M27, the Dumbbell Nebula, often one of the first objects attempt for #astrophotography. By learning new #PixInsight workflows and capturing better data, the image improves significantly #Photography

The Spider Nebula in Auriga - 10,000 light years away is home to a stellar nursery where stars are being born. Radiation from young, hot stars creates the beautiful glow. Image captured using 40 hours of narrowband data through a 12" telescope #astrophotography #photography

With narrowband data, there is no correct color palette. 3 examples with the same data.
Option1: Red=SII, Green=HA, Blue=OIII
Option2: Same as option 1 but channels are balanced
Option3: Dynamic blending of red channel with SII and HA.

With enough data, NGC 7538 displays a stunning structure through narrowband filters. The intricate structures are created by the outflows from newborn stars within. 30 hours of narrowband data through my telescope. #Astrophotography #Photography #Astronomy

The Monkey Head Nebula (NGC 2175) contains unusual number of Herbig-Haro objects - bright patches of nebulosity associated with newborn stars. 30 hours of data from my telescope in image #Astrophotography #Photography
