Looking at old campaign art I realized that there is a trend where when your PC first goes down in combat, our DM takes away the NPC they are romantically involved with. I mean, it’s happened twice now.

Harley (he/him, halfing) and Patches (he/him, felis) share a moment after escaping the Grand Springs. Patches was partially petrified during their retreat and the whole party is grieving the loss of their friend. Hearing Patches crying in his tent, Harley offered him some words from his Lady of Light and kept him company. Above the boys are the words: “It is in the shelter of our Light that those lost live on.”
