🏳️‍⚧️ Gender? probably.
🌈 Queer? definitely.
🎲 Boardgames? Always.
🧙‍♀️ Magic? A gathering preferably.
🪾 Craft? wxtch –As in “witch wytch is wxtch?”
📍 Approximately: Wurundjeri country.
80% refers to the 80/20 rule in design.

Build your product for the 80% of people, optimize for that 80%.

The other 20 - not your target.

In some situations they are even seen as acceptable losses “can’t please everyone”

Oh definitely.
“oh you struggle, here is a pathological reason, you are a problem not the system”

I also agree that external stresses are also contributing to this.

All of which enables othering and creating a discourse of around “the problem” not the system/environment created by the system.

…these are all backed by metrics and measurements to allow for continued optimisation.

Too many emails! Use teams?
Too much in teams? Oh well. Most of them are just asking about that email that you didn’t have time for already, but you now need to reply twice too.

🤷‍♀️

Yay. Capitalism 🚩

Capitalism’s Relentless Optimization has resulted in many improvements for the 80% - and some of those are literally toxic to some neurodiverse people.

Whether it is Teams, Instagram, SPAM email, pinpoint targeted consumption driving advertising, and productivity expectations…

So - I agree with a lot of what is here (most if not all)

On the original topic on the rise of neurodiversity related diagnosis, beyond what is above - there has been a cataclysmic rise in burnout.

This is in part due to the stresses outlined, but also “capitalism’s relentless optimization”…

Huh. I thought I was missing a disk.
Or a whole season.

Seems they are all here. I am quietly pleased.

I still haven’t seen a single episode of season 2… I want to be enthusiastic, but nothing has drawn me that way with my limited watch time.

I love that it both moves SO slowly - and yet if you miss 3 minutes you are perplexed about what is going on and why Tibet?

oh. I was guilty in my 30s 😅
