First time playing around with Shrinky Dinks, my friends and I based them off of medieval #marginalia. Lots of coloring involved with color pencils and Sharpie markers for the outline. #crafting #medievalmarginalia #creatures #beasts #drawing

Since it’s still #Invertefest , here’s a throwback piece to 2012, originally for a sign describing tidal zones using a Northern Pacific scene. All #invertebrates except for the bull kelp. #AOP #marinelife #tidalzones

Another tidbit, this is the full length. Supposedly these #siphonophores get to 40 ft long so the actual #illustration was printed to span a 40 foot length across the exhibit gallery. It was also the reason it was an illustration. None of the deep sea photos could be blown up to that resolution.

#FlashbackFriday to this image I did in 2013 of a giant #siphonophore , referenced from the sparse imagery of the time. It’s weirdly been one my most ripped off/ requested pieces. Also nicknamed the nose because I made the nectosome look like nostrils #Prayadubia #sciart #AOP #invertebrate #Cnidaria

A silly, lanky #creature, more a #sketch than a finished piece. Probably influenced by seeing too many photos of @astrafauna.bsky.social ‘s Ink. #creaturedesign #art #Photoshop

I painted this Giant Thorny Phasmid while working at an Insect Zoo.

Flashback Friday: A piece I collaborated on with the penguins at work. Or rather they contributed footprints and I added some paint. For a coworker that was leaving, party to take care of her baby, hence the adult and juvenile. #MagellanicPenguin #AOP #animal #birds #art #acrylicpaint

I updated the Shorebirds sign at work with one new watercolor drawing of the White-faced Ibis and one archival one of the Killdeer (done in 2007). One thing’s for sure, I’ve added more detail with improved photo references. #birds #art #animals #sciart #AOP

I was never on Twitter but all my other socials are willing to feed me to the AI machines. Have a smokey jungle frog sculpture I painted this year for work. Currently on display in the new Frogs exhibit. #designerfrog #frog #animal #art #AOP

Let’s start off with a coconut octopus because Cephalopods are awesome. Done for daily October drawings last year. #art #animals #cephalopod #octopus
