I found the copyright page from one of the novels. Seems officially sanctioned at least, but not a Japanese translation. Probably similar to the Tracey West Pokémon books.

I’m definitely getting the unofficial novels and the scout guides confused! I only saw Mike’s credit page from the guides, not the posts that he RT’d.

Yeah, these ones have little oddities like translations of the Japanese songs that wouldn’t have been there otherwise.

I have the Venus one. They’re almost certainly translated from the Japanese. Lots of little things that I don’t think a straight English release would have.
