Yes, the way animals are raised and harvested is really cruel and inhumane. There are ways to do it so much better, but that would probably cost more. I'm not ready to go vegan, but we could cut our meat consumption in half and help the situation.

I'm wondering how many of those who drove by were Hispanic, and feared being deported or "lost" in the system. Had little kids at home or a boss waiting for them to show up. Did they mistake the scene for a crime scene, where real cops were finally catching a killer? Lots of factors.

I like most of Barbara Kingsolver's books, but I haven't read Animal Dreams yet. Loved Prodigal Summer.

And when we tried to warn people what he was, they ignored or turned against us, un-friended us or called us names. It's been a cluster-fxxx since he rode down that escalator.

I think you are right about that. He loves to humiliate people, and to see them humiliate themselves. I keep hoping I will wake up from this nightmare that started in 2015.
