I’m afraid things are going to get an awful lot worse for Americans in the next ten years. It will take decades to undo the damage caused by these people.

Plus the sea is often full of sewage so I hesitate to take my grandchildren swimming there.

I agree , it’s really important for children to learn to swim but until we put an end to austerity and inequality , I can’t see it happening.

Where do children have access to pools ?
Most small school pools have been closed and the cost of transporting children in coaches to public pools ( where they exist ) is prohibitive considering school budgets .

500 swimming pools have been lost since 2010, totalling a massive 34,859 square metres of water space. Of all the pools lost in that time, almost half (42%) have been lost since 2020.

Just awful. I’m sure there are many more children who are stranded away from family and their roots.
