ACLU Senior Policy Counsel for surveillance, privacy & technology. New Yorker. Views my own (unless my feed is hacked - then they're somebody else's)
I get it. My work fighting government #surveillance, while critical to preserving our freedom and civil liberties, may not exactly be thrilling. But now, thanks to Sora, I finally can give my work that action-movie level excitement it has been missing.

Where in God's name is @nypd.bsky.social? When persons who refuse to show a judicial arrest warrant physically assault and abduct an NYC elected official who is not engaging in criminal activity, it isn't an arrest - it's kidnapping. So much for protecting and serving. #BradLander #NYPD #Trump

A reminder that 6 months ago, President #Trump’s DHS fired the entire Congressionally-mandated Federal #School #Safety Clearinghouse External Advisory Board (myself included). We weren’t paid, so I guess they cared more saving the money they spent on coffee than keeping #students safe.

We should probably be having a discussion about whether U.S. tax supported colleges and universities should have a cap on the number of foreign students they enroll because those seats are disproportionately being taken away from aid-dependent (poorer) U.S. students.

And they say we are snowflakes? Re-setting your clocks twice a year is a "big inconvenience"?

You know what's really a big inconvenience? Sending your kids to school in the pitch dark for half the year.

Just one person's view here, but maybe Trump should be focusing on the economy he just tanked.

And they said the clothing #Zelensky wore to the White House was unprofessional 🤔🙄

#Musk thinks he's crafty & brilliant, but his lies are incredibly transparent & fool no one. These "prove your worth" emails are a completely pretextual step to firing a lot of people for no reason. #DOGE does not have the staff (especially after today's resignations) to review 1 million emails. 🙄

Shame on #Google. 194 countries call it the Gulf of Mexico. 1 outlier country calls it the Gulf of America. So, of course, Google - the international corporation - goes with Gulf of America. It's not even about the name. It's about prioritizing honesty & accuracy over kowtowing to a bully in power 👎

I have never posted about Gaza until now. I simply want to say that no one in that region has emerged "victorious" from October 7th & its aftermath. It has been an unmitigated, suffering-filled disaster for everyone involved. So put down your "Vs for victory" and make sure this never happens again.

Meet Dave Fraiser, CEO of the "weapons detection" company Omnilert, who claims his product is a "proactive avoidance tool" for #school #shootings.

Even if it worked, how could identifying a gun moments before it's fired prevent a shooting? It can't & that's why it was doomed to fail in Nashville.

I got "fired" by the Trump administration today (as did the entire volunteer Federal School Safety Clearinghouse External Advisory Board).

Kind of a pity - it was a truly amazing group - but I hope this is just a DHS retooling and we can all still work together to make schools safer for our kids.

Quite the bold stance considering (1) the government doesn't fund #ACLU, and (2) Elon Musk is an ACLU donor. 🙄
