Beating the Dodgers counts as three rings, though. It’s a rule.

Caught up with Jason McCourty, who will be calling his third Patriots game of the regular season today (plus the preseason broadcasts). Didn't use this quote in the story, but thought it was a good explanation of why players like playing for certain coaches. www.bostonglobe.com/2025/11/01/s...

Red Sox had these two at the same time for more than two full seasons.
How lucky were we?

I will seize this chance to salute Horace Ivory and the ‘78 Pats, the first team I remember.

His draft record was terrible his last few years for sure. There are always hits and misses, but it was nowhere near poor otherwise. Wrote this a few years ago.

Interesting that the majority of the panicked/angry emails I have received about this since last night blame ESPN.

Proud to say this one, over Bob Hohler’s wonderful game story after the Red Sox clinched a *very* long-awaited World Series 21 years ago today, was mine. Also, it’s crazy that that World Series is now old enough to drink.

Top single-season yards per catch averages in Patriots history (more than 20 receptions). Look at Gronk in '16. Geeez.
After his 3 for 75 yesterday, Boutte is currently tied for the 19th-best ypc ... with Stanley Morgan's EIGHTH-best season.

Had a staggeringly delicious Chicken Pesto sandwich at this place (Toasted Flats) yesterday in East Boston. My new mission, besides getting many more sandwiches there, is to make sure it gets into one of our best-of stories in the Globe.

No, not this No. 4. His instincts are bad in a different way.

When the media played their game after the beatdown, Joe watched from the scorer’s table, yelled instructions, had nicknames for people (Khari was Kurt Thomas 😆), and hung around afterward to bullshit. It was a great time and good for everyone.

“Instead.”
Good job turning a search engine trusted by all into a slop processing machine. Swell work.
(I was Googling to try to confirm a hazy recollection that Greenwell almost signed with the Marlins after the ‘96 season.)

Don’t know about you, but when I think Mariners-Blue Jays, I think Lance Parrish.

Bold comment on the officiating by Tom Curran on NBC Sports Boston. “It gives the whiff of Tim Donaghy.” I had a similar thought on the bizarre Diggs call that wiped out a 61-yard Douglas TD. Probably just inept officiating, but NFL invites intrusive thoughts by being so intertwined with gambling.

The column isn't in print yet -- runs Sunday. Otherwise, right there on the sports front on the site. Not quite sure what you're looking at since there's a couple of different ways to access the Globe online.
