Today, Linac 4 accelerates protons to 160 MeV – 220% more than Linac 2's 50 MeV.

Linac 2 began operation in 1978, accelerating protons to enable higher-intensity beams for subsequent accelerators in CERN's accelerator complex.

It was decommissioned on 12 November 2018.

Since its installation on the ISS in 2011, the AMS has recorded over 200 billion cosmic ray events.

#FunFact: the AMS has been on the ISS for over 5,280 days and counting.

The integrated luminosity, which relates to the number of collisions recorded in a given amount of time, reached 125 inverse femtobarns for the @atlasexperiment.bsky.social and @cmsexperiment.bsky.social experiments, and the total is more than 520 inverse femtobarns since 2010.
