If anyone needs like a vector graphic editor inkscape has worked great as an alternative to illustrate

I hate that people will then go "but it's too expensive" like as if it's a right to have. Not to mention I've seen. People with commissions as low as $5

"isn't it so nice to see your ideas come to life, to feed a program information and have it spit a desirable image or paragraph back at you!" yeah, so there's this thing called a creative director and literally anyone with 20 dollars (or less, sometimes!) to their name can be one via art commissions
