and as much as the modern queer community has its own struggles now some the same some different it is sobering to realize how much progress has been made by those who came before us and I’m getting sappy over gay fanfic from 2010 now maybe I should sleep lol

idk it’s just really interesting reading fics that really show the time period they were written in it’s like a little tiny slice of lived experience and as a fairly young queer person I find it so interesting mostly bc it’s so different from my own experiences

by which I mean it’s like. What do you mean I’m reading like a genuine piece of queer history right now it’s gay fanfic it’s not that deep

but also it is totally that deep bc it’s a marriage fic but it’s not marriage it’s civil partnership bc marriage wasn’t recognized yet???
