I watched the Channel 5 interview with Nick Shirley the other day and it perfectly illustrates this idea of subconscious superiority. Nick argues at length in that interview that it's cowardly and pointless to question yourself, even when you *know* that you're missing information. It sucks ass

-Even though I'd been down a line of leftist thought since I was 14 (or earlier!!), I called myself a conservative until 17 or 18 just because it was easier. Because why wouldn't I be? I- no, *we* are always right, aren't we?

And the most harmful thing is how this right-wing religious culture ensnares you. You're treated as stupid for questioning yourself, until the natural instinct of questioning is scrubbed from your brain. -

I hated Catholic school for a lot of reasons but this is the biggest one. Catholic school (at least mine) primes you for a life of superiority and ignorance. It's why people like me who went to public high schools after were hit with such a difficult culture shock. But that's what made me stronger.
