Thank you! I feel like someone ought to award me a medal or something for my achievements this morning

That's worked for me, for the last decade or so. He refused to come into my work and put this one up for me, though. Which I thought was most unreasonable of him.

I would buy one

The only effect it has on me is to make me peckish for a nice bowl of ice cream. Which I don't think it their intention

"Deeply amused and entirely unsympathetic", that should say.
😁

Yes!

That's glorious!

No, I'm in the North East of England. Interesting that there's a glut of Archangels down on the Welsh borders. Maybe it's a good habitat for dragons, so it makes sense to keep Michael nearby

I was being entirely facetious (as I'm sure you knew), but that's fascinating and yes, a very plausible reaction to that cozy, lovable, well known character.

James Herriot clearly took a dark turn after I stopped watching it! 😂

Correct!

That would be an excellent plan. We are "St Michael and All Angels". We regularly get confused baptism families turn up looking for the RC church of the same name, which is less than half a mile away. Or the other one, in a neighbouring village.

I taught a "how to mend your clothes" workshop this afternoon, and someone was interested in the history of different sewing techniques so I ended up quoting you and describing your needle making experiences. Many thanks for an interesting, informative tangent for our group!

Really interesting - thank you for taking the time to describe it. That makes a lot of sense - and there are certain things that would take so much longer, working like that. Fascinating how such a trivial-seeming change in the material of the tool can make such a difference.

That's fascinating. Can you say a little about how stitches made with these needles needed to be different, and the sewing habits to go with them? (Or point me towards somewhere I can read up on it)

I found a photo of someone doing similar.... I'd have my knees a bit wider, so the yarn stays put better and choose a nice sofa, not a gars chair, but it gives the gist of it.
