Despite a pretty shit week mentally, I've not felt this focused on anything creative in awhile... so I felt the need to ask quite an important question regarding an aspect of video presentation for when I eventually come back.

LISTENING TO A 'NEW TO ME' ALBUM, EVERYDAY OF 2026:

Day 48 - Despite living in the Essex/Suffolk border area most of my life... I'd never heard an Ed Sheeran album before today. He really is a singles artist if this was anything to go by.

Am trying to get back on track... mad how a missed day or two can screw things up.

LISTENING TO A 'NEW TO ME' ALBUM, EVERYDAY OF 2026:

Day 47 - I'm sorry Lucinda Williams fans out there... this album simply did little for me. I expected more and got tender yet repetitively dull sludge.

LISTENING TO A 'NEW TO ME' ALBUM, EVERYDAY OF 2026:

Day 46 - Who doesn't enjoy scintillatingly well played Soutern Rock in a live setting? I know I do, even if I was feeling the effects of hearing three 13-minute-plus long jam sessions in one sitting. Worth the time though.

Forgot to listen yesterday, made up for it.

LISTENING TO A 'NEW TO ME' ALBUM, EVERYDAY OF 2026:

Day 45 - Karnivool are officially back after 13 years, so no better time to listen to their debut album and be happy with what I heard. Even though I know their subsequent efforts are better overall.

LISTENING TO A 'NEW TO ME' ALBUM, EVERYDAY OF 2026:

Day 44 - Elvis Costello and The Attractions are much more enjoyable when they up the tempo, put more energy into the songs and showcase their instrumental talents because I wasn't enjoying this album initially... it won me over eventually.

Forgot to post yesterday.

LISTENING TO A 'NEW TO ME' ALBUM, EVERYDAY OF 2026:

Day 43 - FKA Twigs didn't leave the biggest impression on me... but I can see why many appreciate her music and talents. I didn't know what to expect going in and left feeling like more was possible.

Watching the State Of Play and am actually looking forward to a solid amount.

The live chat however... I can't tell if these are just bots, or really insufferable and perennially unsatisfied humans. Either way... people really don't like or want anything, do they?

Day 42 - While I didn't HATE MGMT's Congratulations... please understand that what the album contained within it wasn't at all what I was expecting and received the appropriate rating to reflect that.

LISTENING TO A 'NEW TO ME' ALBUM, EVERYDAY OF 2026:

Day 41 - Ask me in a day or two why Unknown Pleasures hit a ceiling of enjoyability for me despite being objectively great and I probably still won't have an answer. It does make me want to check out their other material so that says something.

LISTENING TO A 'NEW TO ME' ALBUM, EVERYDAY OF 2026:

Day 40 - Another great album let down by some dud tracks and underwhelming production meaning it couldn't fulfil its potential and reputation simultaneously. Still proved a damn good listen regardless.

LISTENING TO A 'NEW TO ME' ALBUM, EVERYDAY OF 2026:

Day 39 - Really thought given how much I like the opening track this'd be more than just boring... oh well.

Couldn't listen yesterday, so caught up today.

LISTENING TO A 'NEW TO ME' ALBUM, EVERYDAY OF 2026:

Day 38 - Hey look it's another lauded album that I just couldn't click with. I guess Beastie Boys really are best in small doses.

Forgot to post this the other day.

Day 37 - Good to have you back SSPU, it's been too long since I've enjoyed an album of yours front to back.

LISTENING TO A 'NEW TO ME' ALBUM, EVERYDAY OF 2026:

Day 36 - Welp... after my brother had hyped this album for years... it didn't live up to expectations for me once I heard it. Yaaaaay.

LISTENING TO A 'NEW TO ME' ALBUM, EVERYDAY OF 2026:

Day 35 - With its singles basically never leaving British pop radio in the last 25 years... it's no wonder I'd find this nostalgic time capsule a delight to hear in full. Even if those singles still manage to outshine the good deep cuts on it.

LISTENING TO A 'NEW TO ME' ALBUM, EVERYDAY OF 2026:

Day 34 - Introduced to this band via one of the best Trainwreckords episodes; Arrested Development's debut provided something enjoyable albeit beleaguered by its frank, holier than thou and posturing intellectualism.
February 4, 2026 at 12:01 PM
Officially missed my first day of the challenge yesterday, made up for it today.

LISTENING TO A 'NEW TO ME' ALBUM, EVERYDAY OF 2026:

Day 33 - It wasn't 'garbage' but I wasn't left wanting to swim in Garbage... if you get what I mean.

LISTENING TO A 'NEW TO ME' ALBUM, EVERYDAY OF 2026:

Day 32 - My first full experience of Metric... when an album can't live up to the power of its best tracks, I don't know whether to be okay with that or disappointed.

LISTENING TO A 'NEW TO ME' ALBUM, EVERYDAY OF 2026:

Day 31 - My expectations turned out to be correct... odd numbered Chvrches albums really aren't the best reflection of them and their discography it seems.
February 1, 2026 at 11:30 PM
Apologies for not posting these over the last couple of days... completely forgot.

LISTENING TO A 'NEW TO ME' ALBUM, EVERYDAY OF 2026:

Day 30 - Big singles that bite, too bad the bark wasn't hard enough for the whole of Franz Ferdinand's relatively dull debut.

Hollywood is always trying to convince itself (and investors) that controllable, knowable factors are a huge part of the success "formula", when everybody KNOWS it's passion, taste, trust and luck that make a hit. By the time you can see the zeitgeist it's too fucking late.
Netflix fell backwards into KPop Demon Hunters' success
The streamer's approach to KPop Demon Hunters means that its next big thing will likely once again come about thanks to external factors.

LISTENING TO A 'NEW TO ME' ALBUM, EVERYDAY OF 2026:

Day 29 - After seeing The Sparks Brothers documentary, I said I'd begin going into the band's discography. Three years later, I began that journey and I am so happy this was the one to start with! Such fun!

LISTENING TO A 'NEW TO ME' ALBUM, EVERYDAY OF 2026:

Day 28 - Hi Mr. Rosenstock... fantastic album and all... but I wasn't expecting Like U Better and Doubt to read my mental health of the last two years back to me like it was in a fucking book. Haven't felt so perceived... aaaaaah.
