Exactly. My parents were only children and Mom's parents died young. So Mom's cousins were my aunts and uncles. Her aunt and uncle were my grandparents. Dad's BFF and wife were my aunt and uncle. This badly-manufactured outrage is all they have.

Neither of my parents had living siblings, so my dad's best friend and his wife were my "aunt" and "uncle," and so were/are my mom's numerous same-generation cousins.
