Love your use of phrase “information literacy”. Used to teach it in school libraries. Always hoped I reached a couple of kids every year. Not all but many republican voters show that the “information” they get is from fox or the like. It’s always good to read multiple sources.

And as I hear it, women tend to vote as their church or husband tells them to vote. Some of the south still lives in the 40s and 50s; some think it might well be even earlier.

I feel very sad for you. A niece is married to a dreamer and have 3 small children. They have their scenarios ready - worst case, move to Mexico with their children and his mom, and find jobs. Both have BA degrees and are talented.

My wonderings included did the democrats decide to end the shutdown to give the republicans enough rope to hang themselves on healthcare? After all is said and done, why haven’t the gop got a good healthcare plan already to go?
