I did not know that. I should have since Canada's known as the hockey nation. No wonder Canada has got so many talented hockey players!

He wasn't helping his own cause. The way he went on publicly about how he's hoping she'll convert gave the wolves permission to be themselves.

Heritage Foundation has been at the helm since long before election day, I don't dare to guess how many years exactly! I've always thought that the abdication of GOP power & duty as an equal branch of government had more to do with the Heritage Foundation & Project 2025 than the WH burger king.

Cynical is a strong word; I prefer the word 'realist' which leads me to ask: "When is the other shoe going to drop?" They seem all too accommodating and accepting, especially as staunch religious types & constitutionalists, with this decision.

My bad. While 'win' is a stretch by any measure, a better term would be 'not a total loss'.

Below, for your consideration, are their reasons for voting with the GOP Senators

He's one sick human being and I use the term 'human being' lightly! He's not got a bloody' clue of what hard work is and stress to him amounts to a bad golf game. He was useless & in fact the worst employer ever to the ATCs in 1.0 & even worse now in 2.0.

It's so frustrating. It was reported this morning that Canada's has lost its 25 year disease-free status for measles, thanks to the vaccine deniers and conspiracy theorists. Thank you very much (NOT) social media!

I understand the frustration. It's just that the GOP was never going to agree to the subsidies which were put in because of covid. They've been trying to kill Obamacare since the very beginning & now with Project 2025, they're closer than ever in reaching the goal. More (R)s & (I)s on (D) side.

Oops - Correction: SD (shutdown) NOT SH.

On the plus side (have to find something good out of this):
-Dems won elections all over country they'd not have won without the shutdown
-Voters saw how hard Dem lawmakers had fought for them; public sentiment on (D) side, even (R)s & (I).
-Issue is front & center taking over alleged crime issue.

Relieved SCOTUS ruled this way (never sure with them these days.)
Isn't this Kim Davis woman the one who has been divorced three times? I'm thinking she's an unhappy woman who doesn't want anyone else to be happy & is 'misery loves company' type of person.
That's sad - hope she finds love again.

imo, the GOP was never going to agree to the subsidies. But why it was still a win for the country (& Dems):
- 40 days later, ceding helps country while blame still on GOP
- multitude of Dem wins across the country never would have happened w/o shutdown
- the issue is top & center esp in red States

They haven't caved yet. If GOP promises to discuss the healthcare subsidies later but not put it in this bill, I hope the Dems tell them to shove it. GOP have been trying to gut it forever. Also, "Discuss" is not "vote for" & GOP's proven time & again that they can't be trusted to honor promises.
