Investment in basic infrastructure such as accessible, cheap fast broadband
Wifi is needed to make this visa concept a viable proposition. The high cost of living is also a big deterrent to any digital nomads.

Friends here in Aus are wondering what the heck is going on in NZ economy! Usual NACT problems, low wages & high cost of living & now no jobs. 😕

Shooting themselves in the foot, gr8 example of the right hand not knowing what the left is doing so the saying goes, i hope! Thanks for the illuminating evaluation. Most insightful.

Hope that someone in NZ reads it for the same reason as they begin to change the law to do exactly the same, poor public policy hitting the most vulnerable. Sadly evidence matters little to the coalition government, only greed & cash & the very wealthy. #NZpol

Taking the country backwards into the last century is their mission, sad truly as it only benefits their sponsors not the people whom their serve

Sleep in their car if they have one, wash themselves, clothes & kids in a river, 🤔 bit hard in winter in the SI, live in a tent in a safe place if they can find one, eat every other day, join a church group & sleep there?

Possibly not out of touch Chris rather if one takes a cynical view that it’s all part of their ‘plan’ to increase the rich - poor divide even further. Enrich the property speculators pockets & keep donors happy while making life hard for working people.

Great analogy thank you say the property speculators who are laughing all the way to the bank!

They got what they voted for ‘change’ except they had no real idea how ghastly the impact of austerity would be due to the choices made to hand out cash to property speculators & donors.
