It’s a good question and one that comes up a lot. Last time I looked at it experimentally it was still there but need to re-run the study. There are reasons I think it will still exist but too complicated to explain on BlueSky!

Of course we have to be cautious when extrapolating from animal studies but I often come across papers showing that modern music listening habits are associated with changes in hearing, see eg here for a systematic review: journals.lww.com/otology-neur...
