If the reporting is inaccurate & there was more to it, UCPD should clarify. If it’s accurate, we should reconsider arresting our own students with felonies for what may be a TPM violation, but is commonplace young person behavior. 3/4

I'm concerned that in its effort to enforce time, place, & manner rules, UCPD's response was disproportionate. Arresting students for felonies for this activity seems grossly excessive & is likely to chill other students who wish to make their views heard. 2/4

NPR asked for records demonstrating whether ICE is complying with its own policies for using vehicles without plates--and the government has yet to respond. I hope NPR sues to enforce its rights under the Freedom of Information Act.
