anyway maybe netflix will bring back Infinity Train. no they won't. netflix i still would not support this no matter what you do but you should let owen dennis make the last 4 seasons of Infinity Train

dude it's shocking though that Netflix could buy HBO Max & Warner Bros before they could buy like Apple TV+. or Prime Video, "the loss leader for Jeff Bezos' sex life," wonder how that guy's new wife feels about him holding onto it
December 5, 2025 at 1:15 PM
i knew HBO Max (then Max) had become a 100% worthless product once i started to see Six Feet Under on Netflix. one of HBO's best original shows & they had to let Netflix offer it. that meant no HBO program was fully off the table as far as other streamers' ability to get it
December 5, 2025 at 1:15 PM
also can we take a moment to remember how a couple years ago (like right before & honestly for a second around the deeply embarrassing shift to Max) HBO was probably the best & most respected streaming service? this took real mismanagement to get here

you know i would hate the monopoly aspect of this either way but also you know so many shows & movies are just going to disappear as a result of this. if netflix was committing to making all hbo offerings available & releasing physical media the monopoly part would still be bad but the def won't

this is the first mention of Proposition Joe i've seen in the thread and i'm shocked

extra time on tests is categorically not like that. every school where i've ever taught has had a dedicated testing center to allow for students w/ testing accommodations to have those met in a separate environment. i think that's also why it's so common. it is actually not a big deal
December 2, 2025 at 5:41 PM
& also more generally, the kinds of accommodations you have to figure out within your classroom are usually just extra work for the prof, not necessarily something every school has built-in support systems for. even if they do, it's on the prof to contact the relevant office for help
December 2, 2025 at 5:41 PM
by which i mean i think there are valid pedagogical reasons to ask your students not to have electronics out in class or to write certain things longhand, but if you get 1 accommodation letter that a student needs a laptop out, you basically have to let everyone do it for privacy reasons
December 2, 2025 at 5:41 PM
there are classroom accommodations that professors have to figure out & that can be difficult to provide, to the point that doing so effectively means giving up on the way you wanted to administer the class. laptop accommodations stand out to me as the main example

look if you believe in demons here & you actually think you would have no problem considering & debating the merits of ideas which you, personally, believe are perpetuated in society by literal demons, prove me wrong i guess. but that seems like it would be odd, you know
December 1, 2025 at 6:36 PM
& yeah it's frustrating (to say the least) when someone complains they are facing "viewpoint discrimination" but their own viewpoint is... definitionally in favor of discriminating against other viewpoints
December 1, 2025 at 6:36 PM
like in practice, believing evil demons, or satan, or idk lizard people or the illuminati or whoever are the source of a certain idea means you are cutting yourself off from a potential route of ideological inquiry. there are questions you can't ask & people you forbid yourself from understanding
December 1, 2025 at 6:36 PM
like "this is demonic" would seem to imply on its face that the student has signaled a refusal to engage with the idea, regardless of what arguments or evidence they might encounter. & maybe you just can't really believe that & be in academia
December 1, 2025 at 6:36 PM
now i do not believe in demons or hell, so maybe i don't know the nuances of what that belief system implies. but my impression would be "this idea is demonic" = "it is in service to ontological evil, & to even consider it on the merits would be immoral"
December 1, 2025 at 6:36 PM
bc i think that gets harder when someone calls certain attitudes "demonic." they're not arguing against a point they disagree with, they're not trying to produce evidence that the idea is unsupported, they're calling it "demonic" as in it comes from,, fuckin, demons

i will note i'm not sure how much that last one is an actual band, they have 1 single song on their bandcamp page, posted in 2018. cool that they staked a claim to that name though i guess
