The Disney cruise one?? It was NOT emo! 😤 Maybe pop-punk adjacent tho. Apparently it's the theme song for their newest cruise ship (and TIL cruise ships have theme songs). The Imagine Dragons guy was one of the vocalists, which tracks.

I would be happy to hear ideas for other approaches, but this is the exact approach that KDE, Thunderbird, Blender, and more have taken with a lot of success. And those projects are better for it, because they can self-determined what gets worked on instead of only relying on companies contributing.

The idea that GNOME doesn’t need money because employees of big companies are paid to contribute needs to die imho. I’m forever grateful for their contributions, but I also see the struggle of volunteers trying to get things done every day and not being able to because they don't have the time.

The GNOME Foundation is a nonprofit that supports the GNOME project, though—and if we want GNOME to be able to actually fund initiatives that the community cares about, it needs money. There are a ton of volunteer contributors who’d be able to spend a lot more time improving GNOME if they were paid.

whaat it gets treated like an attachment? Interesting! That doesn't work when you have more than one link, or want the link text in the middle of a post, but it's good to know. Thanks!

Wait do regular hashtags count?? #hashtag

yeah. weird.
December 2, 2025 at 7:00 PM
That’s for Mastodon. How many characters is a link worth on Bluesky??

example.com/foo?query=va...

At least according to the composer window, it’s just included in the character count. But not the hash? …but why. So to optimize character counts, make a link shortener like ab.xy/#actual-path-here

Real accountability and transparency depend on technical openness. That’s why we believe core child-safety protections should be open sourced so anyone can study, test, improve, and reuse them.

But seriously, it’s so exciting and engergizing to see the momentum and traction that @roost.tools has. We’re committed to bringing the superpowers of open source development and community to the trust and safety space, ultimately helping reduce harm in open and transparent ways.

Pressing the X or otherwise dismissing it will get rid of it. 🤷
