Also when the US Army infantry battalions would have Davy Crockett sections as augmentation, they were intended to go under the battalion mortar platoon

While the Army settled on a smaller infantry division of 5 battle groups as the unit of action, the Marines moved towards Marine Brigades based on an Infantry Regimental Combat Team supported with aviation and divisional assets as semi-independent units of action
