Of course, I can also begin with a rough drawing, which I can place as a reference (layer or dedicated reference element) to trace the cleaner high-res drawing over the canvas. You'll notice many proportions and details were changed, including limiting the general color palette.

I have to make pixel-art for a project, & have been experimenting with both OpenToonz and Krita, focusing on stuff like replaceable color palettes, and high-resolution-to-pixel-art preview in real time. For example, here is a test drawing in Krita, using a character design unrelated to the project.

if only we had efficient infrastructure where people could find out information reliably or could get computer programs that always give the same objective mathematical results, unfortunately this is the only way of doing this, and i'll post this image for no reason

i meticulously name all of my layers… if they are part of an actual composition with other layers.
if they're just sketch after sketch after sketch that just happen to share the same file, and they'll all be separated into their own flat mage files one day, then may god have mercy on your soul.
