I’m concerned about the huge leap to 20 years - seems too long. The optics of taking possessions ( or rather the way it was spun in papers today) is dreadful - I and many others immediately thought of the 1930s Germany. More generally the language is very unwelcome

I hope so. Some of the other policies (improving safe and legal routes etc) seem quite sensible to me. Interesting that the articles in the Guardian and Sun have quite different flavours.

Definitely my first thought. I have not seen it confirmed anywhere else, so lets hope its a Sun red herring. If its not, its abhorrent.

I can’t quite match the excellent work of @skybluebrunty.bsky.social but was just stopping for a rural pee whilst listening- and up popped the glorious peeing section. Good job I’d peed before the section!

How about Dubai? The esteemed right wing commentators such as Isobel Oakeshott and her Reform buddy Dicky Tice keep extolling its virtues- they can go and see what Sharia law is about. I'm sure Dubai would be very tolerant of this behaviour (NOT!)

Actually they haven't... it was temporary. We are living with such short term horizons and scare mongering doesn't help.

Looking back with rose tinted glasses is utter nonsense. I'm old enough to remember the 70s. High inflation (up to 25% in 1975). Slow recovery from recession, high unemployment. Strikes, three day week, the winter of discontent....

Its completely bonkers. But if they didn't leak, I guess we'd have the press still doing that infuriating spin and speculation about any made up story. Its a real shit show at the moment.
