“I respect your opinion” has no merit when we’re talking about what #ICE is doing right now.

“I respect your opinion” has no place when we’re discussing #ReneeGood and #AlexPretti.

Have the kids who’ve been kidnapped by #ICE had their diapers or pull-ups changed as often as they need? By someone they trust? Is the detention center they’re being held at heated? Are they all alone? Are they allowed to have toys? Do they have enough blankets?

I know the answers.

Health policy analyst here!

Public health *should* ask not ‘who’s sick?’ but ‘why are so many people getting sick in the first place?’

That is where our policy can make a real difference.

When we say ‘vulnerable populations,’ we actually mean ‘vulnerable to policy decisions.’

This is a great flowchart to save for policy conversations with friends, family, and advocacy when talking with your senators and representatives. Great talking points!

What do you think I missed?

If the U.S. healthcare system supported our health, preventive care wouldn’t be optional or a second thought.

Health insurance must start acknowledging physician-recommended, non-routine testing as preventive care, too.

Taking another administration’s health policy initiatives, renaming it, and pretending it’s your own after repealing it during another term is… I guess right on par for who we have making these decisions.

Current Situation: Public health is simply telling people what to do.

How It’s Supposed to Look: Public health should be about making the healthy choice the POSSIBLE choice.

If a healthcare system only works when people are confused, it’s not only broken… it’s predatory.

As we approach #MLKDay, I'm going to discuss health through the lens of Civil Rights concerns and teach about the injustices BIPOC face in the U.S. health system.

I don’t think scientists and public health professionals can be silent right now about the infiltration of the U.S. Dept of Health and Human Services without losing credibility.

Public health runs on empathy and compassion, but it feels to me like somewhere along the way, we started rationing compassion.

Compassion is not charity.

I grew up believing #policy officials always had our best interests in mind. They’d stand in front of cameras saying, “We’re doing everything we can…” — but often it was performative, misguided, or a distraction from the real problem.

Let’s talk about the surprises you’ll probably encounter when looking into long-term care facilities. Did you know Medicare does not cover the cost of assisted living or long-term nursing home care?
