I agree on that point. It's been quite the ride since Jack Layton, who at his peak was a far more popular progressive than anyone I can even compare to. It's hard to believe where the NDP are now across the country. I think they're grasping at whatever they can hang onto.

Did you read the email? They want to crowd source the funds to start up, so its people owned. Not corporate owned. It also takes many people to build the backbone of the site. Having built mass user sites in my career, a million dollars is a small ask that they'd easily get from the private sector.

Also, the dire effects on the US reputation would be insurmountable. Although, in hindsight, it couldn't get much worse than now.
