Yes, and faults aren't a bad thing. We have earthquakes but due to the age and condition of our plate, they have limitations. Little tremors are a reminder we live on an active planet. :)

Yes, there is. New England's faults were made when the Appalachian Mountains formed. (ancient!) The creation of the tectonic plates formed the mountains and the Atlantic Ocean. Part of the reason earthquakes are felt here more, is because the rocks are colder and waves travel better.
