I make horror music. currently in a Signalis: Memories side B infinite loop.
Implemented a meta sounds footstep system for two different physical materials on this factory. One for epoxy concrete and one for rubber.

The red line traces vertically to hit the floor and trigger the notify for the sounds to play.

Spent the afternoon recreating the safe room music from Signalis.

But I couldn't make that buzzy pulsing synth underneath the wobbly piano!!

Also, be careful with the low end!

One of the most important aspects of a horror game is the unsettling music. If the instrumentation doesn’t create fear, the tension collapses. And if the sound design doesn’t sell the atmosphere, the immersion breaks.

Spent 30 minutes trying to come up with a clever melody for a psychological horror track. Until I remembered: simplicity is your friend. So I stripped down the complex melody changes and made it deeply emotional instead.
