interesting thread, I'd like to add: the UK Right has become less 'Murdoch-centric' and is a unleashed, so the 90s Labour Right gambit of 'well, the left are all weirdos, no one cares' is one that now has purchase against the 'blob' ie Labour Right too (frankly w/good cause, as Petie demonstrates)

and finally, perhaps most controversially, surely what we really want, honestly, are more 'Zarah Sultana' examples, eg Anglo-Pakistanis, Welsh-Jamaicans, etc etc. With a fluid understanding of their parents/grandparents culture in a UK (and in this case English) context

really rate you and a lot of the Greens, but, but, as a recovering labourist I have to say it is a different political tradition - not better, not unproblematic in itself, but different... trade unions are key
