It doesn’t take long and it feels great to get your views in the mix! I loved filling out all the boxes …

I’m here to listen to you, do come knocking, thank you”.

There must have been over 100 people there today, not just adults and kids, but older people too, to come and sit and watch. My dad loved perching and being part of the hubbub. And finally, … 8/9

Emily, who’s the cabinet member for parks and leisure, and a ward councillor here then did a speech.

She said it was “a pleasure to be here in my own ward to open this park that will be used by residents in Haringey and Enfield”. She continued: “My door is very much open, and .. /7

The council will also now maintain it.

Theresa in her speech said: “Many thanks to @emilyarkell.bsky.social for supporting us and agreeing for the council to look after it”.

Katie told me afterwards that the 2 local ward councillors including Emily had been very supportive and helpful. - 6/9

So the Friends of the Green Bounds Green raised just over £20,000, but then they needed to put it into action. At this point they needed Haringey council to get involved.

persistence is needed with these things huh.

They explained how they did it - they raised £975 from putting on local events, and applied for a grant from the National lottery community fund.

They were granted £19,186 in 2024 🎉🎉 (What a brilliant day that must have … 3/9

Wow change takes time doesn’t it! That’s 8 years. (Reminds me of some other kind of campaigning *cough*).

We had a middle class problem in Margate - the Turner gallery is closed this week!

But there’s cafes and shops to explore. I thought these “More to Margate” boxes were cute, if a bit warn, and was pleased to see a water filler. And the lights - ducks/fish/dragons?! Discuss. 8/9
