IT IS!! my sun lamp is doing its best but it's no substitute for the real thing

this is a huge pet peeve of mine personally, too!! I think Hunger's Bite did a GREAT job of using shading as another tool in the coloring-as-emotional-tone toolset, I remember the horrible engine/furnace room especially being really effective bc it's such a strong contrast to other scenes

related to kayfabe-as-playing pretend: recently read The Grammar of Fantasy on @ethanmaldridge.bsky.social 's rec & it's a good book about this; you might like it if you haven't read it already! not a proscriptive how-to; good descriptive cataloging of ways kids play/ story ways to engage with them

yup! not actually related but the place we adopted them from recommended them as good playmates/ get along well and they were dead on right!

they are now ~7 months old and FINALLY free of eye problems and parasites and disgustingly smug about it. last photo taken seconds before they started to wrestle

I didn't go to art school but I was so, so lucky to be able to take night/weekend classes at CCP & fleisher art memorial & life drawing studios around the city while working at my day job. philly has so many wonderful resources for developing skills across art mediums & trying new things! I miss it!
