There are 2-3 around the reserve all the time and like boardwalk if there's a few mins with no people

They were only out there for 15-20 mins about 11:45 otherwise they were in the Bay while I was going around

It disappeared after about 10 mins so must have carried on its way

This is the breeding and winter distribution for Red-throated Diver - the one I photographed, much more coastal than Common

Yes, quite likely some eastern Canadian Great Northern Diver (Common Loon) winter off the coast of Europe as well as the Greenland and Iceland breeders

This is the same bird as your Red-throated Loon (we just use the name Diver rather than Loon)
