Got some great stuff at Freebird Records in Dublin today.

Bet I was the only one to walk this nutty 12km route to get there:-)

Congratulations to Wicklow County Council for adding this excellent onsite guide to the cemetery in Rathnew.

7 of my gang (spanning 3 generations) are here and properly accounted for.

Ewdard *is* an unusual spelling in the new guide:-)

St Patrick’s in Dublin tonight.

Chips from Burdock’s (€3) before a concert at St Patrick’s is a tradition of mine going back decades.

Sure wasn’t Dean Jonathan Swift a regular customer too?

Today on the counter there’s a pic of Springsteen on a recent visit.

Excellent concert of early Spanish music by Victoria and Lobo tonight at Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin, sung by the Gaudete Singers. Some fine organ pieces too.

Performed in the Lady Chapel which dates to 1270.

When Ireland’s first president Douglas Hyde died, his funeral was held here at St Patrick’s (Protestant) Cathedral in Dublin.

Only two Catholics risked attending: writer Austin Clarke and the French ambassador.

The government stood outside!

First thing I did upon returning from Germany was gulp some real orange juice.

The Germans still haven’t figured out that orange juice comes from (gasp) actual oranges.

The industrial slop they drink instead is so post war in concept and quality.

Basically chocolate covered cornflakes.

From a Tankstelle near my last hotel in Berlin. Nothing else was open that late.

10% Stork Club “rye wine” beer!

Since I arrived in Berlin 3 weeks ago I’ve searched for high gravity German beer with little success.

After an hour walking around Berlin airport now, checking what’s on offer at every shop and cafe, I finally found what I was looking for at the very last place.

You know you’ve done something right when youngest daughter sends this photo of Sichuan dinner she cooked herself.

Mrs Chang’s Sichuan Cookery book has been in the family for over 40 years.

No I haven’t.

Not ever close. Hhm. Just when I thought I could trust you.

Some memorials to people killed at this Xmas market in Magdeburg last year.

Sigh. The trial of the accused just started.

Not to mention my Cologne lunch earlier today…the würst was huge and the bratkartofflen were the best I’ve ever had. Loaded with crispy onions and bacon and for once there was enough gravy.
