Thanks for sharing. Who knows? I might have walked right by that porch without ever knowing that them two guys would someday be famous. When it came to music, and arty stuff in general, A&M was a complete backwater.

My G-G Grandfather (1822-1904) fought at Franklin (34th Alabama) and was captured 15 Dec. 1864 at Nashville (held at Camp Douglas). He owned 2 slaves in 1860. He was a poor white, but owning even one slave was a matter of prestige. So yes, from my perspective it was all about Slavery.
