Duct tape pattern for the legs. The cuffs are drafted on a curve so they'll flair out. The back panel overlaps for button closure. All applique is gold upholstery vinyl.

New build log for Aurora! Hoping to have her for Anime North but have a long way to go. Here's some of the Blender pieces I'm working on

Laid down the main blue in puffy paints. Will do the darker and lighter blue if there's a time crunch but would prefer to embroider over this.

The base dress, assembled! A slinky knit fabric with cotton satin bias tape. The cut out is probably too wide.

Starting a work log for Mizora, though a lot of the sewing is done. Bolero is from satin lined with broad cloth, with handstitched gold details. All materials from stash.

Textile Museum Sale: Once a year, the Textile Museum of Canada holds a sale. I’ve found trims, buttons and remnants here. The proceeds support the museum.

Thrift Stores: Many thrift stores offer a fabric section, or usable bedding and curtains. They also often tend to shelf saris with fabric.

G&S Dyes: Canada's Dharma Trading. They're the best place for silk fabric, silk painting supplies and dyes.

Anne's Fabrics: Specializing in dancewear, the entire upper level is spandex in a wide array of colour and finish. Requires a day trip to Hamilton, but worth it if you're making swimwear.

World Sew: Less predictable, but a good place to try if other places haven't worked. They have notions and trim as well as fabric. They also repair sewing machines.

Fabricland Bloor-Young: Convenient location. "Boutique Fabrics" available only at this location but still a good amount of discount.

Fabric Fabric: Chiffon, silks, taffeta, upholstry. I lived near them but didn't realise they were open to the public. Set up more like Costco than a fabric store, they have SO much fabric but you'll want a flashlight to be sure of colours. Prices are usually quite good, but you will need as ask.

Affordable Textiles: Best place for spandex and pvc. Also good prices on lace and trims. The guy who runs the West side will help find something that works with your budget.

Leo's Textiles: If you need something very glamourous or a small amount of faux fur, this place is great but expect to pay.

Queen West has changed since I started cosplaying, but still has the highest density of fashion-making supply shops in Toronto.

Leather Supply Depot: Buckles, studs, corset boning, barge, leather paint. If I need something at Leather Supply, no other store in the city will do.

Fabricland Orfus Road: Go to for thread, elastic and notions. New location isn't as full of sale items, but their frequent sales and membership discounts make up for it. First choice for twill, fleece and common fabrics. One of the best places to get nice quality faux fur, in limited colours.

Lens Mills: My favourite place for trims, printed cotton and off-cuts of upholstery vinyl. They have coupons regularly, and their Finish The Bolt discount has helped with Edelgard and Ivy

Some of my favourite Toronto fabric stores!

With the Mississauga Fabricland closure and liquidation of Joanne's, here's a reminder to shop local!

This list doesn't include every store, but has many of my favourite places to get fabric in and around Toronto.

Hi, I'm a master level cosplayer from Canada!

I love trying a variety of techniques and sharing progress pics of the journey. I mostly cosplay from things I love, but I'm partial to pretty or challenging designs. Some of my favourite things to cosplay from are JRPGS, shonen anime, and fantasy.
