I quite enjoyed #Eternity! It has a strong hook, and fantastic performances across the board. A24 could revive the romcom if they really wanted to, but that all depends on whether or not audiences check this one out.
A review of Eternity (2025)
Quick thoughts: I'm a sucker for a good high concept, especially when applied to a genre as "mundane" as romantic comedies. The gold standard will always be a movie like Groundhog Day, and one of my m...

Wake Up Dead Man is the best Knives Out movie to date! It has the most interesting murder mystery, with an incredibly stacked ensemble cast, led by an actor who absolutely understood the assignment! As long as Rian Johnson keeps making these, I am seated!
A review of Wake Up Dead Man (2025)
Quick thoughts: I will forever be thankful that, since 2022, I have been able to see a handful of Netflix film in theaters. There is plenty of evidence to suggest that movies tend to perform better on...

I enjoyed #Zootopia2 quite a bit, about as much as the first one. They are leaning into several of the usual buddy cop tropes, but the new additions to the cast are a lot of fun, and I really dug the way the world has expanded this time around. See it!
A review of Zootopia 2 (2025)
Quick thoughts: Walt Disney Animation Studios could really use a win about now, especially now that Jared Bush is serving as the new Chief Creative Officer. If we're not counting Moana 2, then conside...

Rental Family is incredible! It succeeds as both an acting showcase for Brendan Fraser, and a touching story about the profound impact people have on one another. Don't wait until it hits streaming, see it in theaters as soon as you can!
A review of Rental Family (2025)
Quick thoughts: What is acting? According to Miriam-Webster, acting is "holding a temporary rank or position." On the surface, it may seem like just playing pretend, but the best performances often ta...

I have things to criticize about #WickedForGood, but they're mostly carry-overs from Act II of the stage production. Otherwise, I absolutely enjoyed watching this from start to finish, and I'm itching to see it again in the near future!
A review of Wicked: For Good (2025)
Quick thoughts: Sadly I wasn't able to catch the double feature on Thursday, but I did make sure to see Part One when it was re-released last weekend. I love that movie to bits, it was one of my favor...

So, I haven't been sharing my thoughts on Hazbin Hotel Season 2 yet, because I really wanted to save them for the next Renegade Animation podcast. For now, I'll say this: there are noticeable improvement from the first season in terms of the overall production value, the animation, and the music.

It would be easy to chalk this up to recency bias, but I genuinely believe that Now YouSee Me: Now You Don't is the best of the trilogy. The new additions to the cast are excellent, they play off the original Horseman so effortlessly, and I will absolutely be back for more!
A review of Now You See Me: Now You Don't (2025)
Quick thoughts: I don't like to use the term "guilty pleasure" simply to describe movies I enjoy despite a mixed to negative critical reception. We all understand that film is subjective, everyone's t...

I quite enjoyed #TheRunningMan, at the very least as an entertaining action thriller. Glen Powell proves he has exactly what it takes to be a leading man, and he's backed by a great ensemble supporting cast. Stephen King continues to have a great 2025!

Regarding Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein: It's perfectly okay to not like the movie because of the changes del Toro made to the source material. However, it is NOT okay to say that he's disrespecting the text.

I think I'm done seeing Guillermo del Toro's name being raked across the coals, so it's time to get back to some more positivity.

Tell me either your favorite del Toro film, or a top 5!

I've seen enough to say that Dan Trachtenberg has done an incredible job breathing new life into the Predator franchise, and that certainly includes #PredatorBadlands! It not only has great action, but a strong emotional journey with plenty on its mind.
